Joseph L. Strohman, Jr. was raised in a small Iowa farm town where his father owned a John Deere farm equipment business. Joe was one of seven children and includes golf course greenskeeper and milkman in his past employment.

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1979 with a B.B.A. in Finance. While at Notre Dame he competed all four years on the Notre Dame track and cross country teams and was a three year letterman. He received his law degree in 1982 from Pepperdine University. In 1982 he attended the McGeorge School of Law International Study program in Salzburg, Austria and worked with a barrister in London, England under the program.

In 1983 Joe joined the then firm, Case, Orr & Cunningham, as its first associate and became a partner in 1987. His practice includes a variety of areas in civil litigation including business litigation, title insurance, mechanic's lien litigation, and real property and easement litigation.

Joe has also been active in the local bar for many years. He is presently the President-Elect of the Ventura County Bar Association and has served on its board of directors in 1986, 2000 and 2009-10. In 1986 he was President of the Barrister's Club of Ventura County. For more than 25 years he has been the Race Director of the annual Law Day 5-K Run, which raises funds for the bar association's non-profit legal fund.

Joe has been also active in Ventura community and church activities such as Family to Family (a interdenominational group which feeds the poor); San Buenaventura Mission, as its Christian Service Committee Chair for more than 20 years, the Rotary Club of Ventura East (President: 1997-98), and the Notre Dame Club of Ventura County (President 2009-2011).

Joe and his wife Julie have three children which keep them very busy. Joe has a variety of interests including history, travel and sports and can usually be found running during his lunch breaks.
