Greg graduated from the University of California at Davis with a degree in Political Science in 1986. In 1989 he received his law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. His first three years of practice were in Los Angeles, with Lord, Bissell & Brook. In 1992 Greg and his young family moved to Ventura County, at which time he joined FCOP. His background is in civil litigation, which has also provided a foundation for his family law specialty.

He is certified by the California Board of Legal Specialization of the State Bar of California as a specialist in Family Law (2003-present), and is a Member of the California Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (2003-present). 

Greg is a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (www.aaml.org) (Southern California Chapter (www.aamlsocal.com)) (2005-present). It is an association of the nation’s top family law lawyers. He currently serves on the Southern California Chapter’s Board of Directors, its Amicus Committee (regarding pending appellate cases) and its Legislative Review Committee.  He served as the Dean of the Chapter’s 2010 Annual Institute of Trial Advocacy.

He is named in Los Angeles Magazine’s “Super Lawyers” section as one of Southern California's top family law lawyers (2007-2010). He is also named in the Los Angeles Times Magazine's "Southern California's Best Lawyers" survey (2008-2010).

He previously served as Chair (2004-2005) and Vice-chair (2003-2004) of the Executive Committee of the State Bar's Family Law Section (www.calbar.ca.gov).  In 2005-2006 he was one of the Committee’s Advisors. The Committee (1) organizes Continuing Legal Education Programs for the Family Law Section, (2) publishes Family Law News and (3) tracks and helps shape statewide legislation concerning family law matters.  Greg also previously served as the Editor (2003-2004) and Assistant Editor (2002-2003) of Family Law News.  

At the Countywide level, Greg is the Family Law Editor of and the monthly family law commentator for the Ventura County Bar Association's monthly periodical, Citations. He previously served as a member of the Board of Directors and as a former officer (various positions) of the Ventura County Family Law Bar Association. He also formerly served on the Bar's Business Law & Litigation Section, and is currently a member of the Business Law Section (as renamed).

Out of the office, Greg spends his time with his wife and children. He is an avid mountain biker, surfer and swimmer. His surfing/professional lifestyle has been featured in the Los Angeles Times and in Coastal Living magazine. Having founded what is now known as the Ojai Valley Library Friends & Foundation in 1995, Greg also remains an enthusiastic supporter of the County's libraries.
