Robert L. Gallaway’s practice emphasizes business, general tax counseling, tax litigation and estate planning. He is a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law, California Board of Legal Specialization.
Bob is an active speaker in taxation matters before various groups and continuing professional education organizations. He was named in Los Angeles Magazine’s “Super Lawyers” section as one of Southern California's top taxation law lawyers (2007, 2008, 2009, & 2010). In addition to his busy tax practice, from 1981 through 1994, Bob was a faculty member of Golden Gate University Graduate School of Taxation, in which he taught numerous courses, including Taxation of Partnerships, Taxation of Corporations and Shareholders, and Taxation of Capital Gains and Property Transfers. In 1990 he was named "Outstanding Faculty Member" at Golden Gate University. He also served as a member of the Taxation Law Advisory Commission of the State Bar of California's Board of Legal Specialization from 1996 through 2000.
Bob graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1972 and received his law degree from Hastings College of the Law, University of California, in 1975. He received his Master of Laws in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center in 1981 and his practice has emphasized taxation and business matters for more than twenty five years.
Immediately following law school, Bob spent three years as a trial attorney with the US Army in Europe, followed by two and a half years as an appellate attorney for the Army in Washington, DC. After Bob left the Regular Army and entered the private practice of law, he remained active in the reserves, retiring from the Army Reserves as a Lieutenant Colonel.
Bob lives in Camarillo with his wife, Dr. Sara Essa Gallaway, a Professor of History at Ventura College.
